FAQ's
Q: Is this a drop-off program?
A: No. Soaring Prep is a co-op that thrives on parent involvement. All families stay on site and contribute through teaching, assisting, or support roles.
Q: Can I use Step Up for Students scholarships?
A: Yes! Most families use scholarships to cover tuition and curriculum. We’ll walk you through how to apply and use funds.
Q: Do I have to commit to both days?
A: Families with students in 4th grade and up attend both days. Some flexibility exists for younger students.
Q: What is the time commitment at home?
A: Expect 2–4 hours per subject per week at home depending on age and course load. We’ll help you build a schedule that works for your family.
Q: Do I need teaching experience to help?
A: Not at all! We provide training, materials, and community support for all teaching and assistant roles.
Teacher Requirements
We welcome passionate, committed parents and qualified individuals who have a heart for teaching and working with students. You do not need to be a certified teacher, but you should have confidence in classroom management, a love for learning, and a willingness to follow our curriculum or lesson plans. Familiarity with our classical and Christian education approach is preferred, and support/training is provided when needed—especially for programs like IEW or Tapestry of Grace.
All teachers must agree with our Statement of Faith, submit to a background check, and attend any required training and planning sessions. We rely on parent-teachers and volunteers to uphold the high standards and positive culture of our co-op community, and we provide a discount structure and additional support for those who take on teaching roles.
Curriculum & Study Commitments
Our program is built on a blend of rich, Christ-centered curriculum and flexible learning options designed for homeschool families. We primarily use Tapestry of Grace for History and Literature, MasterBooks for Science, and IEW for Writing and Speech. Families can choose from additional options for Math, Grammar, and Electives based on their students’ needs and learning styles.
While instruction takes place twice a week on campus, our model is not a drop-off or complete substitute for homeschooling. Parents are responsible for overseeing their child’s learning at home on non-class days, including follow-up assignments and readings. Most families dedicate 2–4 additional hours per subject each week at home, depending on grade level. We recommend using a planner and setting aside consistent study time to ensure students thrive academically.
Parent Involvement & Volunteer Expectations
Parent Involvement
At Soaring Preparatory Academy, we believe that parents are the heartbeat of our community. As a co-op, we thrive when families work together in support of each other and our shared mission. While we offer structured classes and a well-developed academic program, our model relies on active parent participation. Whether assisting in a classroom, helping coordinate an event, or supporting behind the scenes, every role contributes to the success of our students and the culture of our academy.
Volunteer Expectations
Each family is expected to take on a volunteer role that suits their availability, gifts, and interests. Roles range from classroom helpers and hall monitors to cleaning crews, special events, and administrative support. For those with teaching experience or interest, instructor opportunities may be available. Parents are expected to remain on-site during program hours unless otherwise arranged. Our goal is to create a joyful, collaborative atmosphere where every family feels connected, equipped, and valued in the educational journey.
